CNN -- Los Angeles, California (CNN ) -- When former in-house defense attorney Dimitrios Biller resigned from his top post at Toyota, he walked out with something potentially more valuable than his nearly $4 million severance package.

He took some 6,000 internal documents, including memos and e-mails potentially damaging to his former employer.

Of course they hid things, it was all about the money. Now its time to shut them down in this country. They are now putting people who buy Toyotas on suicide watch.

Please read the entire article before making dumb comments about lawyers and stolen documents. Toyota execs. should be prosecuted and sent to jail for criminal negligence by hiding all the known safety problems and defects.
"There are numerous references to so-called "Books of Knowledge," highly confidential information on design, safety systems and testing records allegedly generated by Toyota engineers on everything from roll-overs and roof safety to sudden unintended acceleration.
The chairman of a U.S. House committee investigating Toyota seems to agree with Biller, saying Toyota engaged in a "systematic disregard for the law and routine violation of court discovery orders in litigation."

The real story is that the much touted Japanese quality always was a myth.

So does this mean he got paid a ridiculous amount of money to destroy evidence. Maybe for once someone can stop these ridiculous amounts of money being paid to someone when they leave a corporation due to incompetence or any reason for that matter.

Witness the demise of a once great auto maker. Greed is doing to Toyota the same as the management did to GM

What's he going to do with the information - blackmail Toyota? No matter how guilty Toyota may be, it's still unethical, if not illegal, for the lawyer to steal internal company documents. Another in a long list of greedy lawyers gone bad.

How many ethics statutes is this lawyer breaking just for possessing let alone disclosing these documents. If they were sent to him or copied to him or from him they are privilaged work product.

It's good to know there are some honest lawyers out there. At least ones who are willing to come clean eventually.

There is a an attorney-communication privilege that the former Toyota attorney cannot violate. However, an attorney has a duty to report to authorites any imminent crime the client is about to commit

If this is really true, then Toyota should be held totally accountable for all of its actions. It would also be hard to believe Toyota about the current braking & speeding problems.
